Ingredients (one per line):
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal 1 bag (10 oz) mini marshmallows 1/4 cup unsalted butter 1/2 cup light brown sugar (packed) 1/2 tsp vanilla extract A pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Pan: Lightly grease a 9x13-inch pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal of the treats. Melt the Butter & Brown Sugar: In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the brown sugar and stir continuously until the sugar dissolves and the mixture starts to bubble slightly (about 2 minutes). Add Marshmallows: Lower the heat and add the mini marshmallows to the pot. Stir continuously until the marshmallows are completely melted and combined with the butter-sugar mixture. Add Vanilla & Salt (optional): Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt for extra flavor depth. Mix in the Cereal: Remove the pot from the heat and quickly fold in the Rice Krispies cereal, stirring until the cereal is fully coated with the marshmallow mixture. Transfer to Pan: Pour the mixture into your prepared pan. Press it down gently with a spatula (lightly greased to prevent sticking) to create an even layer. Cool and Set: Let the treats cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cutting into squares.
